第二章補充閱讀提供的波利尼西亞聚落形成的文獻資料已經涵蓋東南波利尼西亞聚落。Tim Benton和Tom Spencer 合作編輯了The Pitcairn Islands：Biogeography, Ecology, and Prehistory（London：Academic Press, 1995），內含1991—1992年間科學家們在皮特凱恩島、漢德森島及奧埃諾和杜西環礁考察研究的結果。該書有27個章節，涉及這些群島的地理、植物、鳥類（包括在漢德森島滅絕的鳥類）、魚類、陸地和海洋的無脊椎動物，以及人類對當地生態環境造成的影響。

對皮特凱恩島和漢德森島感興趣或是喜歡看精彩故事的人一定不能錯過Charles Nordhoff與James Norman Hall合寫的小說Pitcairn's Island（Boston：Little, Brown, 1934）。這本小說用寫實的手法重現了叛艦喋血記中叛變者們如何控制船艦，驅逐船長與其親信，然後來到皮特凱恩島自相殘殺的故事。該事件的真實情況可參閱Caroline Alexander寫的The Bounty（New York：Viking, 2003）。
